Bio
Hello students and families of Cook Elementary! I am happy to join the community as a counselor. Feel free to reach out by email or phone to find out how school counselors help students academically, socially, and emotionally. My husband and our 3 children have always been involved in our community. Dedicated to instilling values that will encourage youth and adults to be motivated to help others and encourage a “willing worker” attitude.
My Education and Professional Background
I am fortunate to have worked doing what I love for over 27 years. I attended Valdosta Technical College and earned a Child Development Specialist degree. I later attended Valdosta State University where I earned a Bachelors of General Studies degree with a concentration in Sociology. Now, I hold a Masters in School Counseling, from Walden University. My career experience includes a variety of settings from daycares, alternative and regular school systems, and providing in-home services throughout southwest Georgia through DFCS.
My Educational Philosophy
As a school counselor, I am excited about getting to help every child succeed and feel they are working to be the best they can be and loved. I believe that regardless of one’s age we are all problem-solvers and come with a wealth of knowledge and experiences that can enrich our school community. I believe that every day is a fresh start. Thus, giving me the opportunity to embrace and encourage each student to establish a growth mindset, so that even when they have not mastered something, they can tell themselves,“I can do this … Just keep on keeping on!”
