     I began my educational journey at ABAC, where I received my associate of education degree.  After ABAC, I atteneded VSU where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, and my Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education.

    I love to learn, and want to continue to grow as an educator.  Since obtaining my degrees, I have earned several endorsements.

                 TSS- to help me work with new teachers.                                                

                  Gifted Endorsement-so that I can better serve my classroom.

                  Reading Endorsement-enable me to help struggling readers.

It is my goal to achieve my Doctorate of Education degree.




I began teaching in the Cook County School System in 1991. I taught third grade for fifteen years. I am currently the gifted lead teacher at Cook Elementary School. Before I was a teacher, I was a substitute teacher for five years.

I am also an instuctor at RESA. I teach the Gifted Endorsement classes for Coastal Plains RESA.

I am a member of the international reading council. I have held offices at the local and state level. I have also served on several international committees. I have been the local and state Reading Teacher of the Year. I have also won the local and state Annette P. Hopson Service Award. I was selected by two presidents of the state council to receive the President's Award. I am the building rep for PAGE. I am a member of National Association for Gifted Children. I was one of 20 National Frasier Scholars. I am also a member of Georgia Association for Gifted Children. I am also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa honor society for teachers. I have served as a chapter officer and district officer. I am currently the State Historian.


I am a native Cook Countian. I graduated from Cook High School. I have been teaching for Cook County Schools since 1991. I have lived here with my family most of my life. My husband is Steve Jones. We have three children: Douglas, Jessica, and Matthew. Douglas is married to Traci, and they have the most wonderful children, Kati, Tyler and Taylor. Jessican teaches at the Gifted Center (GEAR) in Colquitt County. Matthew is an ICU travel nurse. They are the loves of my life. I have four sisters and one brother. My mother and dad live in Cook County, also. My mother is retired from the lunchroom at Cook Primary School. We attend church at Adel Church of Christ. I LOVE to read and TEACH children.
